Penn Today highlights more of the work William (Zev) Berger has done while a Fellow with the PPE program. In addition to his normal teaching and research with PPE, Berger also contributed to "We the People," a guide for philanthropists to help strengthen democracy, through the Center for High Impact Philanthropy (CHIP) at Penn as a senior research advisor. The guide triangulates research from academic, funder, and practitioner circles in order to provide evidence based solutions for improving the health of the U.S. democracy. "I feel so lucky to be able to do this kind of work, here as a PPE Fellow at the University of Pennsylvania," Berger says. "The ethos of this program is all about marrying the philosophy and value of social scientific inquiry with real, hard-headed application. I feel like the work I was able to do with CHIP as a PPE Fellow does such a great job of expressing what our program is all about."
